As part of the Jubilee Year celebrations, St. Sebastian Church, Bendur, joyfully celebrated the
Special Children’s Jubilee on 18th December 2025 at St. Agnes Special School, Mangaluru.
The programme was organized with the intention of sharing the joy of Christmas and Jubilee
with specially-abled children, affirming their dignity, value, and unique place in God’s plan.
The celebration was graced by the presence of Rev. Fr. Walter D’Souza, Vicar of St. Sebastian
Church, Rev. Fr. Vivek Pinto, Assistant Parish Priest, Mr. Vinod D’Souza, Vice President, Mrs.
Patsy Britto, Secretary, along with members of the Youth Commission and parish
representatives.
The programme began on a prayerful note with a melodious prayer song rendered by the
children, creating a serene and joyful atmosphere. This was followed by a graceful welcome
dance performed by the special children, which touched the hearts of everyone present and set
the tone for the celebration.
Sr. Shruthi, Principal of St. Agnes Special School, warmly welcomed the gathering and
expressed gratitude to the parish for remembering and celebrating the special children during
the Jubilee Year. She appreciated the parish’s gesture of inclusion and love.
In his inspiring message, Rev. Fr. Walter D’Souza emphasized that special children are a
precious gift from God, reminding everyone that they reflect God’s unconditional love in a
very special way. He encouraged all to see Christmas as a celebration of love, care, compassion,
and acceptance. Fr. Walter also beautifully rendered a song highlighting the true meaning of
Christmas—loving one another and caring for the most vulnerable.
The celebration continued with joyful Christmas carols sung by the Youth Commission
members, spreading festive cheer and filling the hall with enthusiasm. A highlight of the
programme was the grand entry of Santa Claus, which brought immense excitement and
happiness among the children. The children danced joyfully with Santa, interacted freely, and
captured memorable photographs, creating moments they will cherish.
Various fun games were conducted for the children across different categories, ensuring
everyone could participate according to their abilities. Winners were rewarded with prizes, and
all participants were encouraged with appreciation and applause.

The programme was compered and concluded by Mr. Narayan Sherigar, a teacher at the
institution, who expressed heartfelt thanks to the parish clergy, parish council members, youth
commission, volunteers, and all those who contributed to making the celebration meaningful
and joyful.
The celebration concluded with a special lunch, which was enjoyed by all the children and
participants, marking a truly memorable and grace-filled Jubilee celebration.
The Special Children’s Jubilee stood as a beautiful reminder that Christmas is about sharing
joy, spreading love, and embracing everyone, especially those who reflect God’s love in the
most innocent and pure form.
